Future Developments A four stage
upgrade to an ultimate capacity of 58000 EP is described by Sinclair
Knight (1991): In 1990, after much debate, it was proposed that the existing Coffs Harbour ocean outfall at Corambirra Point be utilized as the discharge point for effluent generated in the Northern Areas (Camp, Scott & Furphy 1993). The capacity of the existing Coffs Harbour outfall will depend on the rate of population growth in Coffs Harbour and the Northern Areas. If necessary it could be extended by using storage at Moonee. There is also a proposal for a deep ocean outfall to be located offshore of Boambee Beach which would discharge combined effluent from Sawtell STP, Coffs Harbour STP, Woolgoolga STP and sewage effluent from the unsewered Northern Areas of Coffs Harbour (CEE Northern Australia 1999a, 1999b). |
